We are on our way to Atacama, in the northern part of Chile, a very dry place offering many different landscape.
On the flight over I am making sure I have the correct data in the FMS, flight management system, on the way in some gremlins create havoc on the approach and I had to manually finish the approach. no big deal since the weather was clear sky and unlimited visibility, but a little unnerving since I could not shake the previous approach loaded....something to discuss at the next recurrent training at Flight Safety.....
Great FBO at Santiago, fast efficient and not too expensive. I am off to Atacama airport of choice Calama.

Blue Skies and great view from FL360
For the first time on the journey we have 2 Fuel Trucks feeding 2 planes and the same time, what a change
Some of the Andes peaks and their volcanoes
Calama is the 3rd busiest airport of Chile and receive flights only from Santiago. We were given very specific fly over instruction and set time, not before....20:45Z, I had to slow down...
We are staying at Alto Atacama in San Pedro, one of the 3 best hotel in the area. They have 15 cars/vans to take their guest to exploration of their choosing.
On our way to the Salt Flat of San Pedro we stopped n the small village of El Telar.
It is amazing to see what the Conquistador did in the XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries to convert the local Indian population to Christianity, in this village we still see the original couch and bell tower.
The Spanish left South America in 1821.
And then we reach the salt Flat, what a sight, not the same as what I haver seen in Uyuni, Bolivia in 2014. Great photo op for Pink Flamingos and other birds.
