The distance been too long for the Santa Cruz to Rio leg we had to stop one last time in Bolivia to get fuel, custom was done on departure in a very efficient way.
we learned again and over and over that the Brazilian ATC system is not at all the same as what we have seen in the rest of the world.
Delays and delays and delays and rerouting.
You take of on the file flight plan and then in the middle of the flight a change of routing with a way point 350 nm from the last one then a different airways
then you guess the arrival and then the approach and to top it all they expect you, the pilot to descent VIA the STAR but they do not tell you.
For the cherry on the cake between the last point of the arrival and the initial fix for the ILS you have to loose 3000 feet in 5 miles....and maintain high speed.
In my experience the Brazilian and second to the Russian in the handling of the flying.
This si why I have removed 3 stops in Brazil and try to keep the one we have to a minimum.
There is more comments on this further down the brief.
By the way for my fellow pilot going to Brazil as a group, expect to have 35 to 45 mn separation between each plane...and don't expect to be told...
The handler was amazing on the ground, fast efficient and very well organizes, we even had 2 fuel trucks to refuel the planes and in a fast way.
It was a long day
