First Stop - Cartagena, Colombia

The city of Cartagena, or Cartagena de Indias in its full name, was founded in 1533 by the Spaniards but various indegenous people settled in the region as far back as 4000 BC.

This vibrant city boasts tremendous liveliness, history and an array of colorful buildings, making it the perfect first stop for our exciting circumnavigation of the South American continent. The walled city of Cartagena and its fortress were designated an Unesco World Heritage site in 1984.

Our home for the next 2 nights is the Sofitel Santa Clara, a former Monastery. The architecture of the building, the rooms and the ambiance are beautiful.

Our arrival towards the end of the day made for beautiful photos under a great sunset:

Fueling is always part of the routine and a great time to share pilot stories
